Homemade Beeswax Candles

We love objects DIY (made by oneself), and also we like decorating with candles . And that 's what motivated us to look for a DIY with candles. Yes, I have, and is perfect for a nice gift for any loved one. What do we need? The truth is that to make these handmade candles need very little.

The materials we need are: beeswax, lemon oil (or any other odour that we like), candle wick, and a jar or glass bottle, or any similar container.

We could reuse jars of jam or preserves, or buy those pretty well sold in containers that supply stores craft . Actually anything goes!
Step by Step:
The truth is that it is really simple. Perhaps most difficult is getting the wax, and considering that on the internet, for example, there are countless online stores  where you can buy large quantities of this wax, neither have very difficult.
The beeswax is perfect for making home made candles , because they can overheat very quickly paying off . Still, it is advisable to cut it into tiny pieces to remove more fluently. This will lighten the time to melt it .

So, our first step is to cut the beeswax into small pieces and melt them in a water bath over medium heat. It is important not to go with the heat because the wax may overheat.

At first, we need a little glob of this wax to hold the wick at the end of the jar. We could take some wax with a spoon, for example, and press the wick to the bottom of the container until finally is dry.

Once we have completely melted wax add 20 drops of lemon essential oil. I must say that beeswax has a very particular smell. It is a potent smell like honey. However, not everyone likes, so you can get by drops until it is completely masked. And who says lemon oil, says attar of roses, vanilla, or whatever we like.

All melted and unified, we proceed to pour the contents into our boat, jar or bowl. The important thing is to keep a straight wick so it is right in the centre of our sail. Allow to cool for at least 4 hours and we will have our home made candle. Which we can decorate in different ways, as we see in the images.
